There are many villages in Andhra Pradesh that are not having proper drinking water facility. But there is no single village that is not having a wine shop. That is the power of 'liquor' in our state.
During Naidu's time, the supply used to be like a 'quarter' of liquor for each person in village. In YSR's regime it raised to half with more belt shops coming in. Now in Kiran's rule, as there are no one to question excise department, liquor is flowing like water, enabling each person to get a full bottle. It is a shame that our political parties are fighting against the defects of New Liquor Policy, but not fighting to ban this 'devil' from state. The prices of liquor is also soaring while the 'cooli' paid to workers is getting low day by day.
AP leaders are busy highlighting the fact that our state's major source of income is through selling liquor. Why are we not learning any lessons from states like Gujarat, which are implementing a liquor ban and yet more developed states than us?
