TTD, which is touted to be the richest Hindu Temple of the World, has now created another record. On Sunday ('Srirama Navami' day), the Hundi collection was recorded as Rs 5.73 crores, making it the highest amount ever in Temple's history. The previous record was Rs 4.23 crore (January 1, 2012).
According to the TTD Officials, the average collection of Hundi will be Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 2 crore. The pilgrim rush on Sunday was nearly 70,000, which is a normal range. But the Rs 2 crore donated by an anonymous devotee in the hundi has set a new record.
Till a few years ago, the annual earnings of the Hundi was between Rs 350-450 crore. But now it is said to be anywhere near Rs 700 crore, which shows that the number of devotees visiting the Temple shrine has been increasing with each passing year.
