Chiranjeevi, who was nominated to the Rajya Sabha, has said that he would make use of this opportunity to strengthen the Congress party.
"I thank Congress High Command, chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana for giving me this opportunity. My situation is different from that of other Congress leaders who were nominated to Rajya Sabha. I got elected from Tirupati constituency, supported the Congress government during the No Confidence Motion and later merged my party with Congress. The Rajya Sabha seat can be treated as a reward to my services to the party," said Chiru.
"I would strive hard to strengthen the party and will make sure that Congress retains power in 2014. This is a very crucial period as the Congress workers and leaders were disheartened, due to several unexpected developments at the state and central level. I will try to motive and lift the spirits of Congressmen," he added.
The erstwhile PRP Chief said wherever he goes his prime focus would be on the development of his constituency. "As far as Tirupati is concerned, I will always be grateful to the people of my constituency. It's my responsibilty to develop Tirupati. I made efforts to make government allot about Rs 405 crore package for the development works in the constituency. Solving the water problem, Beautification of the city and Infrastructure were on my agenda. No chance of leaving Tirupati, whatsoever," he told.
