Story
Mambattiyan (Prashanth) is the pivot around whom the whole story revolves. In a remote village in Western district of Tamilnadu, there is a powerful zameendar (Kotta Srinivasa Rao). He is greedy and cattiest. Opposed by Mambattiyan's father (Vijayakumar), he finds the going tough. One fine day, mambattiyan's father is killed by the landlord. Mambattiyan rises I revolt and kill him and his family in revenge. Now the attention shifts to a forest where he takes refuge. A group of men join hands with him. They become do-gooders. There is Kanathal (Meera Jasmine) in romance with Mambattiyan. The action shifts to a chase between senior police officer Ranjith (Prakashraj) and Mambattiyan.
Analysis
Prashanth is at his sparkling best. He has put in lots of effort. He excels in all departments. Meera Jasmine gets a meaty screen space which he utilizes well. Vadivelu disappoints with his comedy while Prakashraj with his performance make you sit upright and watch. Mumaith Khan, Vijayakumar and Kotta Srinivasa Rao are also in the cast.
Technicalities
It is Thaman's musical. A couple of Ilayaraja songs are remixed. Shaji's camera is catchy. Credit to Thyagarajan for capturing the film with state-of-the-art facilities without bothering about the budget.
Analysis
The theme may be out-dated. But the performance by lead stars makes it worth a watch. The dialogues are good and there is pace in the screenplay. Mambattiyan makes one sit and watch.
