Jayam Raja : Velayudham is not a rip-off of Azad :CineJwala:

Velayudham – Vijay, Hansika Motwani, Genelia, Saranya Mohan and Santhanam featuring Velayudham hit the screen on Diwali is rocking. Unexpected result from the audience. Yes more prints are getting ready for the Velayudham. A rumour comes out about this movie Velayudham is, it is a remake of Telugu movie Azad. But the director of this movie denied that.

The director says that he was somewhat inspired by the Telugu movie Azad but he penned the original script for Velayudham on his own. He took only a small portion of the Telugu film and rest other story was written by him. Jayam Raja further explains that the director of the original film, Tirupathi Swamy was his friend and he narrated the story to him before approaching Nagarjuna.

Jayam Raja says that he just took a thread of it and etched the complete story. Hence, he believes that Velayudham is not a remake. However, to be on the safer side, he purchased the remake rights of Azad, concludes the filmmaker.
