Maoist leader Gundeti Shankar alias Seshanna, who carried a government reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head, succumbed to a snakebite at the Dandakaranya forests of Chhattisgarh at around 2 am on March 18.
The victim didn't identify that it's a snakebite, instead he thought it might be work of some insect or a rat. Seshanna neglected immediate treatment. Though he was offered treatment later, by that time the venom spread all over his body and he breathed his last at around 7.30 pm on March 18.
What the central police Cobras and state Greyhounds failed to achieve was done by a poisonous snake. Seshanna is the chief of North Telangana State Military Commission. Several murder cases were registered against him in AP and other states. He is a native of Godavarikhani in Khammam district.
