The Election Commission (EC) may disqualify TDP Rajya Sabha candidate CM Ramesh in the wake of the criminal case being framed against him.
Recently, a sub-contractor has filed a case against CM Ramesh, who is the Managing Director of Rithwik Constructions, saying that he owed Rs 4.5 crore. CM Ramesh, however, denied the reports of cheating and also said that the matter was settled few months back. "Knowing that I'm
the Rajya Sabha candidate of TDP, the sub-contractor is unnecessarily dragging my name into this," said CM Ramesh, reacting to the complaint.
As per the guidelines of EC, candidates should mention all the information about them in the affidavit including the pending criminal cases. And hiding any such information will make them liable for disqualification. As CM Ramesh hadn't mentioned about the criminal case against him in the affidavit, there are chances of EC disqualifying him.
