Brahmins under the aegis of Brahmana Seva Sangham burnt an effigy of film director Ramgopal Verma for his controversial remarks against their community at Sankar Vilas Centre here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Brahmin leader Siripurapu Sridhar demanded an apology from Verma. They would chase him away if he failed to tender an apology.
He said the film director had lost mental balance and was making all types of comments for just gaining cheap publicity.
His comment that marriages made by Brahmins would not last long has deeply hurt the sentiments of Brahmins.
Reminding Verma that his marriage was also conducted by a Brahmin, Sridhar said he should explain why his wife and daughter deserted him.
