They are busy playing Happy Families in Bollywood, these Khans and the Shroffs. In a new twist to the tale of friendship between Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff, which apparently goes back to their 1995 hit ‘Rangeela’, we now have it on authority that Jackie will be mentoring Aamir in Yashraj’s action thriller ‘Dhoom 3’. On screen, that is; because in real life, Aamir is privately being prepared for his role of a gym instructor in the Bollywood franchise by none other than Jackie’s son Tiger Shroff.
Why Tiger? Apparently because the young debutant actor is an athlete, he plays football, practices tae-kwon-do, is a gymnast, is into core training, and has an uncanny knowledge of body building and human muscular movement. All of which is enough to impress Aamir who needs to rebuild his physique for ‘Dhoom 3’ and get a good understanding of the art of physical training in a gym.
That much is known. What is also known is that in real life again, perhaps as a quid pro quo, Aamir has volunteered his services as a mentor and marketing guru for Tiger who is to be launched in Bollywood soon by Sajid Nadiadwala. Confirming this tidbit, Jackie was quoted as saying, “Aamir has told Tiger that if he needs any help in understanding the script or regarding the marketing of the film, he is readily available. Aamir is an old friend and this is a great gesture.”
Now comes the third dimension to the story. While Aamir and Tiger are busy mentoring each other in private, apparently Jackie will be seen on screen in ‘Dhoom 3’ as Aamir’s mentor. Sadly, the two friends have no scenes together, because Jackie’s role ends where Aamir’s begins. A source revealed, “Jackie plays the childhood Aamir Khan’s guru. So all of Jackie’s scenes are with the child actor who plays the young Aamir.” And Yashraj, it seems, has found a boy who’s a dead-ringer for Aamir. The child actor, says the source, not only looks like Aamir he also conveys the same gravity in his personality. Aamir doesn’t play a serious character in Dhoom 3. He is a guy who loves ‘masti’. He is always up to some trick or the other. Jackie and the child will recreate the bonding that Jackie shared with Master Makarand in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Kaash’.
And, no, Jackie doesn’t need to get into better physical shape for the role. He’s playing the child Aamir’s mentor, not his physical trainer. Besides which, Jaggu Dada he is in great shape always.
