The dark side of the Censor Board was exposed with the revolt from some of the Tollywood producers. According to them, few members of the Board are demanding bribes from the film makers to pass their film with less or no cuts.
As per the rules, the producers pay around Rs. 25,000 for each film. Out of these amount, the advisory committee members will be getting Rs. 800 each from the Board to watch a film for the certification.
Now, the committee members were facing the allegations that they were asking for additional Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 2 lakh depending on the number of cuts and the budget/range of the film. If the producer fails to pay the amount, then the Board members will harass by delaying the Certification of the film or Point-out unnecessary cuts or Pass the film with more cuts or Award an A certificate. Reportedly, the makers of a recently released 'Big Movie' had paid hefty amount to avoid cuts for few dialogues and action sequences in the film.
The reason for the present situation is due to the fact that some of the members of the Board members were nominated by the Delhi heads. So, Tollywood filmmakers were now putting a demand before the regional officer to fill the posts from the film fraternity.
