Amidst raising protests for the rollback of hiked petrol price, petroleum minister has blasted a bomb. He prefers Oil Companies over the citizens of this country who use petrol like water every day.
Union minister for petroleum, Jaipal Reddy ruled out the option of rolling back the hiked petrol price. He says that the government should watch international oil prices and rupee-dollar rates for some more days to take any decision. Jaipal Reddy feels the State-owned oil companies have lost around 2500 crores in the first quarter of this year due to the soaring crude oil price in international market and lesser rate of petrol in India. 'All political parties including my own party (Congress) are vote-bank lovers. But, we cannot run the country on these sentiments', states Reddy.
However, allies of UPA2, including Trinamul, Samajwadi and DMK have announced their agitation plans against this hiking. 'Though we are constituent of UPA2, Common man is our main concern and we will protest silently', says Karunanidhi, ex-CM of Tamilnadu and DMK Chief. Reports are indicating that Congress might roll back the price in view of getting cornered both by opposition and allies for petrol hike.
