After having lost both their last games- Mumbai Indians and Deccan Chargers would be looking to make a come back in the tournament. The Mumbai Indians team would want to repeat their inaugural match performance against Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, the Deccan Chargers would like to cash in on the home advantage.
Both the teams' Captains- Kumar Sangakkara and Sachin Tendulkar have not made an appearance in this edition of the IPL. While the master blaster had to retire due to, a finger injury, from the match against Chennai Super Kings; the Sri Lankan was busy in the home series against England.
Though Kumar Sangakkara has joined the squad, the team management is not sure if the Sri Lankan will take the field on Monday. "Kumar is just back from a five-day Test and we are not sure how he will take it. It is a 50-50 situation and the call will be his," said the Deccan Chargers coach Darren Lehmann.
Sachin Tendulkar fate also hangs in balance as he nurses a finger injury.” I think he is recovering very well. The way things are looking, management will take a call. He is likely to play against Deccan Chargers. We are hopeful that he will play this game." clarified the Mumbai Indians spinner, Prgyan Ojha.
Only Richard Levi of the star studded Mumbai Indians team has managed to come up with a decent performance so far. On the other hand, the Chargers would have expectations from the all-rounder, Daniel Christian.
On the bowling front, both the teams have managed a decent performance. The Mumbai Indians team looked good with performances from Lasith Malinga, he has scalped four wickets in the two matches played by him, Harbhajan Singh, Kieron Pollard and Prgyan Ojha all have looked promising.
For the Chargers, Dale Steyn and Daniel Christian were exemplary with two wickets each. Left-arm spinner Ankit Sharma also impressed on debut.
The exhaustive format of the tournament demands that team gather some early wins to build on the momentum. Both the teams having faced early defeats would be looking to tilt the momentum in their favour.
