It has been a year since India became the first host country to win the cricket world cup. It's a moment that all Indians cherish, and those who were fortunate to be a part of team India's win still feel honoured to be called champions.
Former India vice-captain Virender Sehwag said that he is proud of India being world champions. Sehwag said that a year on, he still cherishes the moment India won the coveted crown.
'I am proud of being called a champion. Even now, after a year I look at the champions badge everyday, it inspires me and makes me feel good. When I look at the badge I feel like going out and performing for India in every match I play', Sehwag said.
Sehwag also thanked team India's fans for supporting the team.
Earlier Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar too tweeted on India's world cup anniversary.
'Time flies but memories last forever. What a day it was!!! 02-04-2011,' he tweeted.
Sehwag had a pretty ordinary world cup, apart from a 73 against South Africa in Nagpur, a match India went on to lose by 3 wickets.
