Fardeen Khan will be seen on the posters of KEM hospital’s deaddiction programme. He has been chosen for the programme, as he had been to the hospital for cocaine detoxification. This programme is methadone maintenance treatments that will help doctors wean addicts of drugs. This treatment will use methadone as a replacement drug.
Fardeen was a drug addict and last year in October, charges were framed against him for attempting to buy cocaine in 2001. Later, he had put an application under section 64 (A) or Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act which was accepted by the court.
As per reports, the hospital has procured 128 kg of the drug and sought help from the police to secure it. “We decided to call Fardeen Khan to become the face of the project as he had come here for cocaine detoxification. He was regular with his treatment and we believe that with a celebrity face, the stigma associated with rehabilitation will go and more people will be comfortable stepping forward to receive treatment," said Dr Shubhangi Parkar, head of KEM’s psychiatry Department, told a daily.
