Byari and Devur share best - Doctor Girish best at Regional

In the just announced 59th National Film awards ‘Byari and Devur’ – shares the best feature film awards at the national level for 2011. Byari is the film on Beary language that is spoken at coastal Karnataka. It is about a girls in small Muslim Beary community are mistreated in the name of marriage. Devur is a Marathi film.
Another award goes to Dr Girish Kasaravalli’s ‘Koormavathara’. It has bagged the best regional award. The film produced by Basanthkumar Patil. It is about the government servant who is at the edge of retirement wants to adhere to the principles of father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

The 59th national awards were announced at 1 pm by Chair person of the award committee Smt Rohini Hattangadi.
