Former Andhra Pradesh Principal Home Secretary and IAS officer BP Acharya's wife Ranjeev (IAS officer) has demanded the state government bear all legal costs during the trial relating to the Emaar case.
In this regard, Ranjeev has written a letter to the chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi seeking the help from the government. The chief secretary has forwarded the letter to chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. Ranjeev mentioned in the letter that she had already spent over Rs 2 lakh for the legal expenses (Lawyers, Appealing in the upper court) and left with no money to pay anymore.
BP Acharya was named as the No. 1 accused in the chargesheet filed by CBI in Emaar scam case. Ranjeev was the principal secretary (finance) and following the arrest of her husband in connection with the Emaar case, she went on long leave.
For sometime now, the IAS officers were accusing the state government for making them scapegoats in the scams during the tenure of former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
