Ace Cinematographer Santosh Sivan turned as actor with a Malayalam film Makaramanju, directed by Lenin Rajendran was a good hit in Kerala. It starred Karthika, Nithya Menon, Mallika Kapoor and others in lead roles. The movie has won best film award in International Film Festival of Kerala and critical acclaims.

Makaramanju is a film about legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma's life. Most of the movie is deals with Ravi Varma's quest to paint a theme of Pururavas and Urvashi's
