In the middle of January 2012 there was tension for Ko Ko Koli Kothi and Sidlingu for acquiring right theatres. That was explained via joint media address by the two films producers. The reason behind it is Kannada theatres going in the way of non Kannada films.
Now another difficulty has come to debut producer Mr Jagannath Hegde producer of ‘Gavipura’. Announcing well in advance, booking theatres the producers gets feeler on Wednesday that he cannot release his film on10th of February 2012. The reason quoted by the exhibitors and members in KFCC is three more films hitting the screen on the same day. The KFCC members asked me to defer the release producer of Gavipura took out handkerchief twice to wipe his tears at the media briefing after the screening of the film at Renukamba Digital theatre in Malleawaram Bengaluru.
I was questioned and cajoled that there is no star cast in the film. It is difficult to get the theatres – such statements deeply hurt Jagannath Hegde. He found no support from KFCC.
For lack of good support for the newcomer Jagannath Hegde is forced to come on 17th of February. He is likely ot get 50 plus theatres on next Friday all over Karnataka.
It is only the media and the people of Karnataka can save us pleaded Jagannath Hegde.
