The other day, Secunderabad witnessed the sudden collapse of an old building that accommodates a hotel. The downfall led to the death of three hawkers on the pavement and this time the GHMC officials have nothing to cover-up the issue.
The incident is any eye-opener to many GHMC officials and especially town-planning officers who give permission to not demolish such buildings. Any new construction happening around such vintage buildings will disturb their basic foundation which leads to their crumple. As the incident happened when the new owner of this old building is trying to renovate it, the GHMC officials stated that the owners haven't acquired any permission from them. Though criminal cases will be launched on the owner in responsible to the deaths of three innocents, what are these GHMC officials doing all these days without evaluating the life-time of such building is the question.
It is pity on GHMC Commissioner to say notices will be sent to all the owners of aged-buildings in the city at this point of time. Politicians on the other hand are sensing serious code violations by GHMC in these building collapse issues. They are saying that the officials are taking bribes and passing these buildings and there are no less 2000 such buildings in the city. Time for all scamsters to spill out beans, it looks!
