Music composer A.R.Rahman has now come forward to defend himself on the ongoing ‘Hosanna’ controversy. The national award-winning musician has admitted that he did not mean to hurt any group’s religious sentiments. The controversy was about Rahman’s use of word ‘Hosanna’ in upcoming film Ek Tha Deewana’s track song. The word which was used for the romantic portrayal of lead pair of the film Pratiek and Amy Jackson, is a holy term used by Christians and Jews in Bible.
Christian Secular Forum (CSF) objected Rahman in using the word also demanded to pay an apology to the group as well as eliminate the word from the song or else remove the entire song from the movie. Meanwhile, lyricist Javed Akhtar has supported Rahman as he too did not find anything objectionable in the song. Rahman claims that he had earlier confirmed the meaning of the word from his Catholic friends before using it in the movie.
