The expectation from the new breed of directors to Kannada cinema has been dismal in this year too. Out of 125 plus films that got released till 23rd of December only three directors who made debut received applause.
The theatre background director Jayatheertha from ‘Olave Mandhara’, Pawankumar in the camp of Yogaraj Bhat from ‘Lifu Ishtene’ and Nutan Umesh a long time assistant director turned independent director from ‘Krishnan Marriage Story’ made a good beginning. All made it from original film is the notable point.
The super hit film ‘Vishnuvardhana’ is considered as partial remake but the director P Kumar got a tumultuous welcome in his debut because of the title and superstar Kichcha Sudeep. The ‘Kirataka’ director Pradeep Raj, Raghuraj from ‘Boss’, Ramesh Prabhakaran from ‘Kal Manja’ found success from remake films.
Among the senior directors who made success are Sudeep from Kempe Gowda, Nagashekhar from Sanju Weds Geetha, Madesh from Hudugaru, Dinakar Toogudeepa from Sarathi, Yogaraj Bhat from Paramathma, Preetham Gubbi from ‘Johny Mere Naam’, Mahesh Kumar from ‘Bhadra’, Lucky Shanker from ‘90’ sailed through.
Despite of failure the director who got attention is HP Ravindra from ‘Mathe Banni Pritsona’ that had opportunity to release for the second time. In the first time it was ‘I Am Sorry Matthe Banni Pretsona’.
