‘Minchina Ota’ one of the very good films in Kannada film history directed by Shanker Nag will be screened at KV Subbanna Aptha Rangamandira on 13th November 2011 at 3.30 pm by KV Subbanna Aptha Samuha and Kannada Vartha Ilake. The venue is situated at 151, 7th cross, Teachers colony, I stage, Bengaluru opposite Dayananda Sagar
College.
This is on the occasion of November 9th Shanker Nag 57th birth anniversary. A chat with the film makers is also organized after the screening of the film but unfortunately actor cum director Shanker Nag, BC Gowrishanker cameraman are not living today.
‘Minchina Ota’ is a story inspired by a real life incident of a daring jail break attempt which is supposed to have taken place in Belgaum jail. The real life dacoits are said to be serving their sentences in the same jail. The jail sequences are shot on the actual locations of Belgaum Jail.
Katte, Tony and Thatha (Shanker Nag, Ananthnag and Lokanath) are three small time thieves, They dream of making easy money and plan a bank robbery. But their plan fails and all of them land in jail. Toni wife Manu (Priya Tendulkar) is carrying and Tony is keen on seeing his wife and on being her side at the time of delivery. The three robbers meticulously plan to escape from the jail. But once again their plan is foiled and all of them are shot dead.
This is the debut direction of Shanker Nag in 1980 which won him the first best feature film award from the state government.
Priya Tendulkar (first wife of Ananthnag) Ramesh Bhat, Somu, Mandip Roy also in the cast. Prabhakar Badri has scored the music.
