Tollywood’s small producers who are waging war for hike in entertainment tax for dubbing movies has got a huge relief now. The government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to hike the entertainment tax to over 25% on dubbed films. As of now, straight Telugu films are paying 10-12% depending upon the release center, while the dubbed or other language films are paying 15-20% upon the release center.
However, the government is in no plans to hike the entertainment tax on straight Telugu films and other language direct films. The new hike will come into effect from Pongal, 2012. This is undoubtedly going to make huge difference as the producers of other languages are dubbing their late 90s and early 2000’s films without any hesitation and are minting money in Tollywood.
