This week the festival of lights – Deepavali there is no big release from Kannada cinema front. The Kannadigas are fed with films like ‘Ra.One’ of Shahrukh Khan, Velayudham of Vijay, 7AM Arivu by Sooriya.

Two small budget Kannada films ‘Kaanchaana’ starring Diganth and Ragini Dwivedi  - this week a hat trick week for Diganth as his films like Taare and Puthra released in the last two weeks. The other film is ‘Obbavva’ by director Anand P Raju is said to be a remake of ‘Seetha Ramu’ Kannada film. Deepak of Shishya fame is hero of this film.

Film Makers Srinath Reddy debut film production ‘Kaanchaana’ is the debut direction of Sri Ganesh. Kiran, Mukyamantri Chandru, Rangayana Raghu, Satish Ninasam, Tabla Naani, Tennis Krishna, Venkat Shastri, Pawan Bharadwaj, Gurudev Gowda are in the cast.

The ad film maker Sri Ganesh has roped in Rishkesh Hari for music and he has penned the story, screenplay. Tabla Naani has penned the dialogues. Sundaranath Suvarana the recent state award winning cameraman has handled the camera. Yogaraj Bhat and Hrudayashiva have penned the dialogues for the film.

Action heroine Ayesha is in the lead role in ‘Obbavva’. The pages of Karnataka history as ‘Onake Obbavva’ who puts down the enemies from ‘Onake’ instrument and dies at the end when her husband is having lunch in the Chitradurga dynasty. This was brilliantly narrated in a song in Kannada film ‘Nagarahavu’ by SR Puttanna Kanagal.

This film is also shot in Chitradurga, Bengaluru and other places. Shobaraj, Ravishanker, Raju Bhaiyya, Tilak, Bullet Prakash, Petrol Prasanna, Swasthik Shanker are in the cast.

DK Ramakrishna alias Praveenkumar is the producer. Rajesh Ramanath has scored the music. Thriller Manju, Ravi Verma and Kaurava Venkatesh have composed the action portions for this action based cinema. BA Madhu is the dialogue writer.

Anand P Raju award winning director also known in the action based films is the director of ‘Obbavva’.
