Bollywood diva Rekha was honoured for her Outstanding achievement in Cinema at the 13th IIFA awards here as actress Priyanka Chopra paid a tribute to her with a performance.
Beginning with the song 'In Aankhon Ke Masti ke', Priyanka went on to groove to remixed beats of 'Salaam-e-Ishq', 'Pyar Do Pyar Lo' and 'Pardesiya'. Then she put on a bright printed shirt to impersonate Dharmendra for the song 'Rafta rafta', going down in the audience to bring Rekha up to the stage and shaking a bit of leg with her.
"You have been an epitome of grace and poise. Thank you for being my inspiration. You should have got the outstanding achievement award 20 years later, but we are giving this to you now for what is to come," said Priyanka.
Actor Shatrughan Sinha - who is starring opposite Rekha in a new film "Aasman se Aage" - and his daughter Sonakshi presented the "Silsila" star with the trophy.
"I dedicate this award to today's young actors like Priyanka, Parineeti, Sonakshi and Vidya. This is the beginning of an endless end. I wish could be half as graceful, half as spontaneous as Zohra Segal, achieve as much as her. I think I am half way there," said Rekha.
Zohra Segal was honoured for turning 100 this year, coinciding with the 100th year completion of Indian cinema. In a pre-recorded audio visual, Segal said in her usual witty manner, "I am delighted to have received this prestigious honour at this young age. You never know what might come next!" PTI
