The Supreme Court serving notices to six ministers in connection with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s illegal assets case rocked the State Legislative Assembly on Monday.
While the main opposition party, Telugu Desam, demanded immediate resignation of all the six “tainted” ministers, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said they were yet to receive details of the Supreme Court’s direction. “The government will respond only after receiving the information on the apex court’s direction,” he said.
Notwithstanding the assurance given by the chief minister, the TDP members besieged the podium and shouted slogans against the ministers concerned, forcing deputy speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to adjourn the House for ten minutes.
The TDP members resumed their protest after the House re-assembled prompting the Chair to adjourn the House for the day.
The matter was raised after question hour by TDP’s Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu. Informing the House of the Supreme Court’s directions, he demanded that all the six ministers resign or the chief minister remove them from the cabinet.Julakanti Ranga Reddy (CPM) and G Mallesh (CPI) too demanded resignation of ministers.
