College Student Commits Suicide By Jumping Before ‘Metro Train’ in Bangalore………….,
A 17-year-old student committed suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train at MG Road station .
Cubbon Park police said CCTV footage confirmed that the youth, S Vishnu Sharan, committed suicide and it was not an accident. He was a resident of Jayanagar and a student of PUC first year in a private college.
The incident happened at 8.34 pm. The police said he jumped on the tracks when the train was three feet away from him. Although train driver Rajshekar saw him jumping and applied the brakes, it was too late and the train hit Sharan. The police said he was alive after the train hit him, but grabbed the rail tracks and got electrocuted.
The body was brought out of the Metro station at 9.40 pm and shifted to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital. The police said they did not find a suicide note.
Fire department officials said they reached the spot immediately after they learnt about the incident, but Sharan had died by the time they arrived. The fire department officials retrieved the body from the tracks.
Sharan was carrying the class VII identity card, which was used to identify his parents.
His father, Sathyanarayana, is a businessman. His parents rushed to the Metro station when they were informed about the incident.
Metro service was cancelled after the incident. J Suresh, a witness, said Metro employees evicted all people from the station after the incident. Suresh said there an ambulance facility was not available near the station.
Another witness, N Lakshman, said Sharan was still alive after the train hit him, and a doctor present there offered to attend to him, but the Metro officials did not allow him to.
Police officials later added that Sharan had purchased a ticket to Byappanahalli and got onto the platform.
The police recovered an old ID card from his wallet, which gave his year of birth as 1995. There was no death note recovered.
