The giver and taker of corruption are at fault. Sometimes the giver plant to book the corruption. In the case of Kannada film Subsidy based on the quality for 2009-2010 the shady deals were in gossip mills from last one week has been proved right.
Popular television and cinema actor Suresh Mangalore in character roles and director Kudlu Ramakrishna names have appeared with a few other members names detained.
What is it all about? Karnataka government gives subsidy based on the quality for 50 Kannada films from 2009-2010 – previously it was 30 films. The subsidy to Kannada films was introduced in later 70’s when Ramakrishna Hegde was Union Minister of state for finance. It has grown up from Rs.50000 to Rs.10 lakh per film. Quality is the criteria. A committee is appointed by Karnataka government select the film after viewing it.
For 2009-2010, 108 Kannada films were in the Subsidy committee headed by veteran actor Shivaramanna. Abiruchi Chandru, Mahadev, Ramakrishna, BR Lakshman Rao, Mahabala Murthy Kodlakere, Suresh Mangalore, SN Ravishanker are the other members.
It is Suresh Mangalore dealt with the affairs and Rs.2 lakh was minimum fixed for the grant of Rs.10 lakh for each film subsidy for 50 films.
In the case of children film the grant is Rs.25 lakhs. The limit is for two films a year. The maker of children film Kudlu Ramakrishna of ‘Bettadapura Ditta Makkalu’ on the advice of Suresh Mangalore deposited Rs.2.5 lakh to Kotak Mahindra account. To his shock his film was not found in the list.
The list of 50 films leaking in this case has lead to the major setback to the corrupt Suresh Mangalore. When the print and electronic media caught hold of the shady deals in the subsidy award committee the head of the committee Shivaramanna declared that he has submitted the list but how it got leaked is shocking. Meanwhile Shivaramma with very good reputation stated that the one who has given and one who has taken should be punished in this case.
The GO for the list of 50 films that was supposed to get signature from Chief Minister of Karnataka has been stalled according to the government sources.
Popular satellite channel Suvarna 24x7 News channel caught the recordings with Suresh Mangalore accepting on the bribe money.
