R Subramaniam is a novice. But his maiden venture Sevarkodi goes on to show that he has firm grasp of the medium and is sure to make a good beginning in Tamil cinema.

Sevarkodi speaks about the battle between two youth for survival. The whole movie is set in Thiruchendur. The movie has right emotions too to sustain interest. Bhavan, Arun Balaji, bhama form part of the cast.

Story
Kali (Bhavan) is a driver who works for one 'Annachi' in Thiruchendoor. One fine day, Annachi expresses desire to marry Kali's sister. There is Bala (Arun Balaji), a youngster, who is in love with Valli (Bama). kali agrees to get his sister married to old Annachi for some money.
But she elopes with her lover. Kali mistakes Bala for helping them run away. He sets out to take revenge on him. What happens between the two forms the rest.

Performance
Bhavan plays his part well. He is cool and casual in giving expressions needed for the script. Arun Balaji is okay as hero, while Bama's chirpy acts deserves praise. The likes of Pithamagan Mahadevan, Ramachandran, Sri Ranjani and Thavasi are in the cast.

Technicalities
The highlight of the movie is Chelladurai's camera. The locales of Tiruchendur have been captured well. Sathya's musical score is hummable, while Dileep Subbarayan's stunt choreography is racy,

Analysis
Produced by Kamalkar and Anandh Reddy, Sevarkodi is touchy tale of revenge, that is watchable.  There may be some lacunae but can be neglected for a honest show.
