As anticipated, the government and the speaker took decision of sacking the MLAs who supported Jagan Mohan Reddy and his YSR Congress to vote against government in no-confidence motion. As per Schedule 10 of Indian Constitution - Section 21A and 21B, 16 MLAs of the ruling party are disqualified, while PRP MLA Shoba Nagireddi's resignation is accepted, the speakers office stated in an official release.
When the TDP passed the no-trust motion in the assembly on December 5th 2011, 16 ruling congress party MLAs and one MLA from Prajarajyam Party have voted against the government.
All the 17 MLAs have been waiting for the speaker's disqualification, such that by-polls will be conducted and they can prove the power of Jagan and YSR. The state is going to witness a 'mini-election' once again and this definitely stands as a litmus test for the political parties of Andhra Pradesh with 2014 General Elections ahead. It looks like the government has delayed the decision all these days to delay the by-polls at different places such that they can focus on each segment fully.
