The Intermediate Mathematics question paper was leaked half-an-hour before the commencement of the exam at a centre located in Ramayampet in Medak district on Wednesday. The police apprehended two lecturers while they were reading out the question papers on their mobile phones outside the centre.
“We came to know about the leak of First-Year mathematics paper through the media 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam at Sneha Junior College, Ramayampet. We directed the regional inspection officer, Medak, to inquire into the issue. The officer alerted the local police who rushed to the spot. While the exam was scheduled to begin at 8 am, the police caught two lecturers at 7.50 am while they were reading out the question papers outside the exam hall,” said the secretary, Board of Intermediate Education, Mr M. Subramanyam.
He said that the two lecturers involved in leaking the question paper were removed from the exam duties immediately. “We have asked the officials to submit a detailed report about the incident. We will take stern action against the lecturers based on the report,” Mr Subramanyam said. As had been feared by the Inter board, the number of malpractice cases has witnessed a sharp rise with the commencement of the science exams from Wednesday, which carry a weightage of 25 per cent in Eamcet. While only about 30 students were booked during the language exams, it crossed the 100 mark after Wednesday’s maths and botany exams.
