The way in which Sachin Tendulkar was being declared out in the ODI against Australia on Sunday has sparked a controversy.
In the final delivery of the 7th over, Sachin ran for a single only to be run out . Australian pacer Brett Lee stood on way of Sachin, which forced the little master to cover an extra yard to reach the crease at the non-striker's end. Sachin could have comfortable made his ground, if Brett Lee hadn't troubled him. Sachin was disappointed with the decision of on field umpires Simon Taufel and Billy Bowden declaring him as out.
Even, Dhoni wasn't happy with the decision. "I don't think Brett Lee had real business to stand on Sachin's way. It was unjustified because he (Sachin) had to take an extra yard to run. Sachin was disappointed that he was given out," said Dhoni at the post-match press conference.
India's top order failed miserably again chasing a target of 253 to give Australia a massive 87-run victory in the tri-series ODI match. Now, the chances of India qualifying for the finals are bleak.
