Jayalakshmi known for sister role in ‘Devara Kannu’ a thriller in the early 70’s is recognized for her song Ninna Neenu Maretharenu Sukhavidhe….came to cinema industry at the age of 16 after taking training at Pune Film Institute. Shabana Azmi grandmother was her batch mate at the institute.

Making entry from Bisidha Bale, films like Seetheyalla Savithri, Bayalu Dhaari, Deva Kannu gave recognition although not as a heroine remembers Jayalakshmi.

Actress of over 150 films in over four decades of cinema career Jayalakshmi is a mother of two sons. One is an engineer and another one is working for national geographic channel.

Jayalakshmi in the span of nine years from 1972 to 1981 affection to cinema continued more after the ‘Rekha’ role in ‘Deva Kannu’. She was in Kalla Kulla, Besuge, Maha Thyaga, Geddavalu naane, Srimanthana Magalu etc. The second innings of Vijayalakshmi was after 1999. In films like Kutumba, Shaapa, Joke Falls, Namma Basava, See…You, Sankranthi, Bhagwan and so on continues for mother of Kannada screen.
