It looks like an an never-ending tale in Kollywood. Even after five rounds of talks between the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) to settle the wage row issue, it is yet to be sorted out.
Film-shoots were stopped for over three weeks and production of many films came to halt following a war of words between the producers and workers over fixing wages.
When things appeared to blow out of proportion, the intervention from the Labour Department officials based on instructions from Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa provided some hope in tinsel town. However several rounds of talks in the presence of the government officials have not yielded any result so far.
Of the 150 films releasing every year, only a handful of movies make profit. Still we producers pay adequate wages to the workers. It is not fair on their part to demand more,' say the producers.
