The prestigious Government of Karnataka award of Golden Berunda by international jury Rs.10 lakh and citation went to Avie Luthra and produced by Christopher Wilmot ‘Lucky’ that features Kannada actor and theatre personality Jayashree. It is a South African Zulu language film.
Best director award of Golden Berunda of Rs.5 lakhs was bagged by Feo Aladag for the movie ‘When We Leave’(German), while the Jury Special Mention Award went to the Chinese film ‘No 89, Shimen Road’ directed by Hoolun Shu.
Under the Asian Cinema Section, the Netpac Award went to the Sri Lankan film ‘Flying Fish’ directed by Sanjeewa Pushpa Kumara, and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.
Chitrabharati –– ‘Nobel Chor’ directed by Suman Gosh bagged the award and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, while ‘Gandhi Smiles’ directed by Krish Joshi and ‘Puttakkana Highway’ directed by B Suresha jointly bagged the award under the Kannada Cinema Section. ‘Chintu School,’ directed by Sheshgiri Yelameli got the Jury Special Mention award.
The awards were presented by Governor of Karnataka Dr Hansaraj Bharadwaj at Ravindra Kalakshetra on Thursday night. Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana, Abhinaya Sharadhe Jayanthi were on dais as chief guests.
Actress Thara, ambassador of the festival received the flag that was unveiled from governor of Karnataka. Principal Secretary Basavaraju welcomed the gathering at closing ceremony. Dr YK Muddu Mohan, HN Narahari Rao highlighted the weeklong festival developments. TS Nagabharana proposed a vote of thanks on the evening.
