The fifty percent of the budget of the cinema is remuneration part of actors. This is very high and producers are failing to meet such huge expenses. The actors should demand remuneration on the basis of their previous film collections in the box office.
Ignorant Kannada Film Producers Association Munirathna Naidu made the above statement yesterday and caught himself. This is a wrong mathematical calculation indeed from the President of Producer sector.
Take for example – Puneeth Rajkumar No.1 of Kannada cinema. His film ‘Jackie’ made a business of Rs.30 crores in 100 days. If he had charged on the basis of this collection no producer would dare to touch and ‘Paramathma’ could not have happened. In case Puneeth Rajakumar had told the producer give me 30 percent of my previous collection what would have been the position. Of course Puneeth Rajakumar according to industry calculations is charging between Rs.3 and Rs.4 crores. The extra Rs.5 crores is not a burden for the producer in case the mathematics of Munirathna Naidu is applied.
Think before you say and not blink after statement rightly suits Munirathna Naidu. The case with Darshan, Sudeep, Upendra, Vijay, Ganesh and Shivaraj Kumar is different is what Munirathna Naidu should understand.
Why such statements from Munirathna Naidu? None of the stars went to the house of the producer. It is producer who has come to the actors. Secondly but very important ‘Who asked the producers to make a film’?
Producer Munirathna Naidu is making such careless statement hurting the producers. The other day he told actor Yash do not get one autography if stands in Shivajinagar bus stand when he hiked remuneration after ‘Kirataka’ success.
Instead of making such careless statement sitting at the helm of offices Munirathna Naidu should think of alternatives. Actors should be fixed the responsibility of buying the rights of their own films instead of remuneration. This particular issue is not tried in Karnataka. Such methods would bring in more caution to the films and it will be a total dedicated film.
That is why we say a ‘Think Tank’ is necessary for Kannada cinema industry.
