This time at London Hammersmith Town Mermaid Hall in London ‘Vishwa Kannada Sammelana Europe-2011’ held by SANGAMA and India Classical Arts Roopa Iyer, dancer, director and thinker it was two days festival of NRI Kannadigas concluded on Deepavali festival day.
From the Kannada film fraternity Ambarish and his charming wife Sumalatha, Dr Srinath, Hamsalekha and Ramya (Divya Spandana) plus the beautiful Roopa Iyer were attraction in the cultural festival.
Sangama is a committee of European Kannadigas to organize “Vishwa Kannada Sammelana Europe-2011” in London. SANGAMA is also a registered Not to Profit Organization, registered in UK with the registration number 7619637. Sangama Committe is empowered by the support of Kanandigas across Europe and its committee members come from various backgrounds and are all motivated by one factor “Kannada”. SANGAMA is committed to promote the rich culture and heritage of Karnataka in Europe and the whole objective of holding the “Vishwa Kannada Sammelana Europe 2011? London is to promote Kannada in Europe.
In last twenty eight years, this type of a mega event was not held in UK and Europe. With the recent developments in IT and other fields there are many thousands of kannadigas in UK and Europe working or engaged in various sectors like medicine, IT , businesses etc. By organizing this event, Sangama has set a platform for all global kannadigas to come to London and unite together for the development of Kannada Language, Kannada Literature and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Karnataka state. This will be a union of all Global Kannadigas and hence the name “Sangama” – meaning “The Union” “Vishwa Kannada Sammelana Europe -2011” will be a spectacular podium for deliberation amongst renowned Poets, Writers, Farmers, Artists, Social reformers, Journalists, Sports personalities, Industrialists, Politicians and Non-Resident Kannadigas for the development of Karnataka State.
This festival was held for two days with events, exhibitions, film shows, literature and poetry symposium, discussion panels, sports, arts, culture and other activities from various parts the world promoting Karnataka.
The political leaders like DH Shankera Murthy, DK Shivakumar, Shivananda Nayak, poet Prof Doddarange Gowda, playback singer BR Chaya and others took part.
SANGAMA President Dwarakanath, Sangama founder Sampath Yadhavad, K Kumar, Sharat Iyer, Ravi Rajagopal, Dr Jyothsna Srikanth, Prashanth Mysore, Prashanth Bhat, Manorama Prasa, Dr Putthuraya, Bhuvaneshwari Hegde, Pavagada Prakash were present at the two days festival of Kannada.
