The four category of awards – World Cinema, Asian Cinema, Indian Cinema and Kannada cinema award constitute Rs.21 lakhs as award money, Gold and Silver ‘Berunda’ (legendary two headed bird) are given at the valedictory of the 4th Bengaluru International Film festival.
The World Cinema Award ‘Golden Berunda’ given by Government of Karnataka is selected by International jury is Rs.10 lakh cash award goes to best film. Silver Berunda given to best director constitute Rs.5 lakhs is also given by the Government of Karnatka. Films made between 1st of January 2010 and 15th of June 2011 are eligible.
The Asian Cinema Award is given by NETPAC Jury in the name of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce is Rs.2 lakh, Chitrabharathi, Indian Cinema Award in the name of Suchitra Film Society, Film Critics Jury select the best film and it is ‘Suchitra Sanman’ of Rs.2 lakhs, Kannada cinema award given by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, film Societies for best film carries Rs.2 lakh award.
In the international level the award money for competition sections is up to Rs.50 lakhs of rupees mentioned HN Narahari Rao, veteran of the film society movement of India who is the Artistic Director of the 4th BIFFES.
