Himesh Reshammiya is back at trying his luck on acting. Must say, it’s a brave move to release your film with the most anticipated film of the year Ra.One. So will he succeed in getting people to the theatres despite this big fact? Well, ‘Damadamm’ is a clean film that is just a once watch and the coming holidays may prove beneficial for the film.
Story:
Shikha (Purbi Joshi) is a nagging possessive girl-friend and her beau Sameer (Himesh Reshammiya) is irritated of being with her for the past five years. Shikha leaves for her hometown Indore for 15 days and Sameer is then the most happiest guy on earth o get back his freedom. Then enters Sanjana (Sonal Sehgal) and then happens the most clichéd and expected thing. The two get inclined towards each other. Predictably Shikha finds this out after returning from Indore and the two break-up. Thereon, the story is about Sameer realizing that he still loves Shikha.
Analysis:
There is nothing new that the film is portraying. The story has been shown on the silver screen hundreds of times. What’s interesting about the film is that the director has kept the film clean with no stupidity around. It’s not a film that will make you wonder the worth of your penny. It’s a good time pas but only for people who like love stories.
Performances:
Himesh Reshammiya is himself. There is no change in his performance. His body language is not very good and makes you feel that he lacks the punch to become a star. Sonal Sehgal is mediocre. Himesh’s boss in the film is irritating. A pleasant surprise is Purbi Joshi who carries the film totally on her shoulders. It’s totally her film, about her insecurities and her dreams. The lady is talented and needs better films.
Technicalities:
The direction is good but the cinematography needed a lot of attention. Editing too drags the film in parts. As much as you want to like Himesh’s music, there are certain portions make you feel like ending the songs. Umrao jaan is peppy but Madhushala irritates. Even the choreography cannot make you enjoy the songs.

- Purbi Joshi

- Music
- Cinematography
