The garden city, silicon city, IT Capital Bengaluru can boast of a massive and glorious International Film Festival similar to Goa.
The 4th Bengaluru International Film Festival organized by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy on behalf of Karnataka Government with a funding of Rs.2.5 crores from government exchequer will be held from 15th of December to 22.
The Karnataka chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda unveiled the logo of ‘Ganda Berunda’ of the 4th BIFFE on Tuesday evening at Home Office Krishna in the presence of bigwigs of the Kannada cinema industry and Kannada and culture minister Govinda Karajola.
The Karnataka chief minister in his address stated Bengaluru is known in various sectors at the international level and conducting a grand festival for the first time is a new feather in the cap. The government has set aside in the budget for Bengaluru International Film festival.
Bengaluru has cosmopolitan outlook and this kind of festival would enhance the respect of the state. 100 films are made in Kannada every year but art films with high quality should come up more. This will be a platform for the audience to watch quality films. This is the zamana of digital. In the past government funded the festival organized by Suchitra Film Society. This time the competition section at the international, Asian, national and state level is set up disclosed the Karnataka chief minister.
The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy organizing this for the government of Karnataka will have two vital awards for the world cinema. Award in the name of government of Karnataka will be Golden Berunda that is for the best film carries Rs.10 lakhs and best director would get Silver Berunda Rs.5 lakhs.
There is Asian Cinema Award of Rs. 2 lakh in the name of Karnataka Film Chamber of commerce, Chitrabharathi – Indian cinema given in the name of Suchitra Sanman of Rs.2 lakhs and Kannada cinema award in the name of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy that carries Rs.2 lakh.
At the same media conference the Kannada and culture minister Karejola stated there is no dearth for funds. The additional Rs.50 lakhs is not a big issue as raised by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman TS Nagabharana. At the same time sponsors are also important for this type of activities felt the minister.
