Is it fair enough to remove one good running Kannada cinema to accommodate another Kannada film at the same theatre?
Director Pradip Raj, Yash and TS Nagabharana have decided to protest this attitude of ‘Jogaiah’. All the three are sitting on a Dharna in case ‘Jogaiah’ comes at Kapali theatre.
The rule book at the Apex Body – Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce is strictly against to such moves. So the fate of ‘Jogaiah’ release at Kapali theatre (the first Cinerama theatre in Asia) hangs in balance.
At Kapali theatre the Kannada film ‘Kirataka’ starring Yash and Ovia in the direction of Pradip Raj is doing well. It is earning Rs.1 lakh share for the producer besides the rent per week of Rs.3.75 lakhs. That means to say ‘Kirataka’ is earning Rs.5 lakh per week.
In the days of Kannada films collecting well becoming dream how fair is to remove it and place 100th film of Shivarajakumar ‘Jogaiah’ in that place?
A common man would say it is unfair. In that case why director Prem and team is hell bent on getting Kapali theatre killing another Kannada cinema?
The hotly discussed matter on Friday evening at the ‘Kirataka’ 50 days event was this topic.
Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman TS Nagabharana a renowned director with black badge sat on a dharna in front of Santosh theatre when his well running Kannada film ‘Kallarali Hoovagi’ was in trouble. It was power star Puneeth Rajakumar film that came to Santosh theatre and it got the theatre.
Director of ‘Kallarali Hoovagi’ protest was a futile one.
