Udumban - Serious and sensitive issue
It seems to be the season of movie harping on educational system. After the likes of Dhoni, Marina and Nanban comes Udumban. Directed by S Balan, the highlight of the movie is India's No 1 bike racer Dilip Rogers playing the lead role.
The movie takes on the corrupt and complicated system of education.
Story
Udumban (Dilip Rogger) is a sixth standard dropout. in a village. He is a robber who goes around with monitor lizard on his shoulder. He robs valuables from rich and share it with the police. Twist in the tale is his brother landing in jail for killing Udumban's fiancee.
One event leaves Udumban to come up with an idea to start ab school so that he can loot parents in the name of donation.As it happens, he lands in jail and the onus of running the school falls on his brother's shoulders. Udumban returns to get a shock. His brother becomes big and rich.
Udumban returns to understand that education has become business and his brother is cheating people. Now the battle is between them. How Udumban wins his empire back and give free education to poor and needy is the climax.

Performance
Dilip Roger plays his part well. Considering this to be his maiden venture, he comes clean and good. The female leads Sana and Geethika come and go in the film.
Analysis
All said, the movie speaks loud on an interesting issue. What begins on an interesting note loses fizzle as it progresses. Eventually, Udumban proceeds on cliched path. However the director can be lauded for taking a serious issue and gioving it a commercial colour.
