The KV Subbanna Aptha Samuha and Kannada Vartha Ilake’ is going great with very apt films and bests of the history of Kannada cinema are fed to the discerning audience on Sundays.
On this coming Sunday 5th February at 3:30 pm the screening of the film ‘Nandi’ will be attended by the actor and maker of the film Smt Harini at K V Subbanna Aaptha Rangamandira,No. 151, 7th cross, Teachers' colony 1st stage,(Near Dayananda Sagar College, opp to Vasudha Bhavan, Kumaraswamy Layout),Bangalore - 560078.
A film made in 1964 by Sri Bharathi Films starring Dr Rajakumar, Kalpana, Harini, Balakrishna and others in the direction of Vadiraj and N Lakshminarayan was also musical film with unforgettable Vijaya Bhasker scoring tunes. RNK Prasad was the cameraman.
‘Nandi’ is the story of rehabilitation of deaf and dumb in the society. A young school teacher, Murthy a man of ideals leads the contended happy life with wife Nirmala. Tragedy strikes when his wife dies during the childbirth. The child survives but it is deaf and dumb.
Murthy marries a deaf and dumb Ganga to bring up the child. He makes lot of study on deaf and dumb problems. He ultimately succeeds in teaching lip reading. Enthusided by the success at home, he starts a school for such handicap children. One day his child dies in an accident. To forget the sorrow, Ganga also works in the school of handicap children. This is how the couple Murthy and Ganga gets consolation in life.
When Ganga becomes pregnant Murthy is apprehensive about the child. It is a normal child for the couple this time.
