Story:
Ricky Bahl (Ranveer Singh) is a suave conman who thugs women for a living. He thugs 30 girls from various cities, all over India; and gets rich. Now, three girls Dimple Chaddha (Parineeti Chopra), Raina Parulekar (Dipannita Sharma) and Saira Rashid (Aditi Sharma) who he has conned join hands and plot a smart sales girl Ishika Desai (Anushka Sharma) to con him. Now, watch it in the theatre to find out who wins, the ladies or Ricky Bahl.
Ananlysis:
Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Maneesh Sharma together created magic with their first film ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ together as a team. This time too, there are huge expectations with them. Fortunately, the film is poles apart from their first film but unfortunately lacks the punch the original had. What’s worth commending here is the characterization of the cast as everyone is quite different from each other but that takes away major screen space. And if that wasn’t enough, too much time is wasted on showing off Ranveer’s 6-pack abs and Anushka’s skiny frame in a swim suit. Yes, the film has its own moment of fun, wit and laughter that are entertaining but for me it’s just a once watch with the end leading to a predictable climax.
Performances:
Ranveer Singh impresses in four different avatars. He comes out as a mature actor, grown from his debut. Anushka Sharma looks good and acts well but somehow her acting is beginning to seem monotonous. The ladies are a welcomed addition with Parineeti stealing the show. She plays a north Indian girl with that accent. She gets it right and is adorable. Dipannita has poise and acts well too. She is talented. Aditi looks beautiful and the way she talks takes away the cake. The rest of the supporting cast perfectly suits their characters.
Technicalities:
Maneesh Sharma handles the plot in a completely different way than his first film and is partly successful as the film is slow paced and gets boring in parts. Though there is a feeling of curiosity throughout of what will happen next. Music is peppy and the background score totally complements. Cinematography is good too. Dialogues, some are good, some are clichéd.
