The French government will bestow the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan soon. The honour is in recognition of her contribution to the world of cinema and to the development of Indo-French co-operation in the same.
While this honour was conferred to her in 2008, she was unable to attend and receive the award in person because of her father's illness at the time.
It has always been important for Ash to receive prestigious awards in the presence of her family, and so on French National Day on July 14, Ash is being bestowed with this honour by Jérôme Bonnafont, Ambassador of France to India.
This time, her entire family will be present in Delhi, including the Bachchans. She will take part in the French National Day celebrations in Mumbai.
This honour was suppose to be bestowed on her yesterday but due to the Mumbai blasts it has been postponed.
